Maranello is a town and municipality in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy. However, it is better known as the city of Ferrari and the Formula 1 racing team.
It is the city where the Ferrari Museum is located. Specifically, it is located 300 meters away from the Ferrari factory. The Ferrari Museum first opened in 1990, has an area of 2,500 square meters and the number of visitors is estimated at 180,000 per year.
The nearest airport you can land is in Bologna and then continue by road. But there are sure more options depending on your starting point.
Whether you are a fan of cars or Formula 1, it is definitely worth a visit. The experience is incredible. A big number of exhibitions with all Ferrari models, and engines will take you back in time.
The Ferrari Museum dedicated a special exhibition to Michael Schumacher, which it officially inaugurated on its 50th birthday, on January 3, 2019, as a token of gratitude to the most successful Prancing Horse driver ever.
The Formula 1 exhibition includes various racing models as well as photos with all the historical drivers chronologically, and their trophies.
For the big Ferrari fans who want to experience the adrenaline of a pit stop and get a taste of a real Grand Prix, there is a simulator where it can make their experience even more exciting.
At the end of your visit to the museum, just before the exit, you will reach the Ferrari store where you can buy various souvenirs.
There are also various ticket packages where you can visit Modena’s motorway and experience a real driving experience.
You can find more information about ticket’s prices and packages here.
In addition to the museum, throughout the city, you will also find many shops where you can rent various Ferrari models and drive them through the city streets. Prices start from 100 to 120 € and rising depending on the model and the duration of the ride. It is definitely a special experience. I still regret not doing it, but I have a reason to visit Maranello again. To drive a Ferrari!
Special tip: Once you have finished your visit to the museum and after driving a Ferrari do not forget to go to a restaurant and try tortelloni. Tortelloni are stuffed pasta, well known mainly in Northern Italy. They are like tortellini but they are bigger and usually have ricotta cheese, spinach or parsley filling.
